A step-by-step 3D reverse engineering workflow how to
convert mesh to surface with QUICKSURFACE

1. Import any mesh from scan in QUICKSURFACE. The mesh has to have topology so the format of the file should be OBJ, STL or PTY. STL is the most common file format used in 3D Scanning
2. Use the Mesh Selection to mark the features like planes, cylinders, spheres, free form patches, revolved and extruded surfaces.
3. Construct shapes by selecting what type of feature needs to be fit.
4. Align mesh in space to map correctly orientation of the object in respect to world coordinate system.
5. Create 2D Sketches for Revolved and Extruded surfaces.
6. Use Trim command to create connected surfaces.
7. Build patterns for repeated objects
8. Create fillets where needed.
9. Export in IGES or STEP file format for use in other CAD packages
10. Or use QSConnect to make a direct transfer of the parametric history tree in SOLIDWORKS® for mechanical parts
